3.4.24.1. Removal and installation

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

The head fastens bolts with internal 6-faced shlitsa. Before removal of a head familiarize with procedure of removal of a gear belt and other units.


ENGINE OF 2,0 L

Removal and installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the battery from weight.
2. Merge liquid.
3. Remove the carburetor and both collectors.
4. Remove a radiator.
5. Remove the fan and a pulley.
6. Uncover heads of cylinders, designate all disconnected hoses, cables and wires.
7. Remove the top cover of a belt. Establish the piston of the 1st cylinder in VMT of a step of compression.
8. Unscrew a cam-shaft bolt, and, without allowing rotation of the crankshaft and weakening of a belt, remove and put an asterisk on the holder in the bottom cover. If necessary enclose soft laying to keep a tension.
9. In 2–3 receptions unscrew bolts of a head of cylinders in that order.
10. Turn out bolts, without breaking an order.
11. Remove a head, if necessary displace in easy blows through wooden whetstone.
12. The removed head clear. Perform necessary works.
13. Installation is carried out upside-down.
14. Lay new laying and one movement establish a head (the label for selection of laying of a head of cylinders – is specified by an arrow).
15. Tighten bolts in that order at first by hand, and then in 2 stages – at first with the moment of 46 N of m, then tighten with the moment of 92 N of m. A bolt of a cam-shaft tighten with the moment of 88 N of m, having convinced of correctness of installation of rollers and yokes.

DIESEL ENGINE

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the battery from weight.
2. Merge liquid.
3. Disconnect from the engine the top hose of a radiator.
4. Designate and disconnect from a cover of a head of cylinders all hoses.
5. Disconnect a wire from the temperature sensor.
6. Disconnect from a turbokompressor branch pipes and hoses, immediately muffle all openings.
7. Disconnect fuel tubes.
8. Disconnect sockets of spark plugs.
9. Remove both collectors.
10. Remove the top cover of a belt. Establish the piston of the 1st cylinder in VMT of a step of compression.
11. Designate the rotation direction on gear belts. Unscrew a bolt of the crankshaft and remove a pulley, without allowing crankshaft rotation.
12. Remove the bottom cover of a belt.
13. Release a bolt of a natyazhitel, displace a natyazhitel to the pump of cooling and tighten bolts.
14. Remove asterisks of a cam-shaft and the fuel pump. Rotation of shaft at removal is not allowed.
15. Remove a gear belt and the fuel pump.
16. Uncover heads of cylinders and laying.
17. Release bolts of a head of cylinders in that order for 2–3 receptions and turn out.
18. Remove a head of cylinders and laying.
19. The removed head clear. Perform necessary works.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Installation is carried out upside-down. Lay new laying and establish a head.
2. Tighten bolts in that order at first by hand, and then in 2 stages – at first with the moment of 54 N of m, then tighten with the moment of 108 N of m. A bolt of the crankshaft tighten with the moment of 70 N of m.
3. At belt installation at first tighten a bolt of a natyazhitel in an adjusting groove, and then an axis bolt. Crankshaft rotation at installation of a belt is not allowed. Turn the crankshaft on an hour hand so that the asterisk of a cam-shaft was displaced on 2 teeth from an adjusting label, and then – back, having combined labels.

Check a tension of a belt which in the middle between the fuel pump and a cam-shaft there should be 4–5 mm. Upon termination of check ignition installation.

Removal and installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Execute a decompression. Disconnect the battery from weight.
2. Merge liquid.
3. Disconnect the top hose of a radiator and heater hoses.
4. Remove an air line and a branch pipe.
5. Disconnect an accelerator cable.
6. Disconnect and muffle fuel шланги.означьте all disconnected hoses, cables and wires.
7. Remove the pump of the hydraulic booster and take aside, without disconnecting from the highway.
8. Remove the top cover of a belt and a cover of a head of cylinders.
9. Combine labels on an asterisk of a cam-shaft and on a head of cylinders.
10. Unscrew a bolt and remove a cam-shaft asterisk, having rested it against the bottom cover. Reliably fix a belt on an asterisk. Rotation of the crankshaft is not allowed.
11. Disconnect wires from candles, remove the ignition distributor (subsection 3.4.2).
12. Disconnect an exhaust pipe.
13. Unscrew head bolts as it should be from the periphery to the center and remove a head of cylinders.
14. If necessary remove collectors. Clear a head.
15. Installation is carried out upside-down. Lay new laying and establish a head. Tighten bolts in that order at first by hand, and then in 2 stages – at first with the moment of 100 N of m. A bolt of an asterisk of a cam-shaft tighten with the moment of 100 N of m.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the battery from weight.
2. Merge liquid.
3. Remove a compressor belt.
4. Remove guards from the main cylinder of brakes and a final collector.
5. Remove the air filter.
6. Disconnect from the thermostat a hose.
7. Remove the secondary air filter and a branch pipe.
8. Remove all arms which can prevent head removal
9. Disconnect hoses and uncover heads of cylinders.
10. Establish the piston of the 1st cylinder in VMT of a step of compression.
11. Disconnect gasoline pipe lines, a vacuum hose, heater hoses. Remove a masloukazatel.
12. Disconnect high-voltage wires.
13. Disconnect from an exhaust pipe converter.
14. Designate and disconnect other sockets, wires and hoses.
15. Unscrew a cam-shaft bolt, get a gear wheel of a drive of the distributor.
16. Without allowing rotation of the crankshaft and weakening of a chain, remove and put an asterisk with a chain on the holder in the bottom cover. If necessary enclose soft laying to keep a tension.
17. In 2–3 receptions unscrew bolts of a head of cylinders in that order.
18. Before releasing a bolt of N2 release 2 forward bolts.
19. Remove laying of a head of cylinders.
20. Remove a head, having displaced it in easy blows of a soft hammer on corners. Clear a head.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Installation is carried out upside-down. Grease with hermetic 3V ART 8660 a surface of a joint of the case of a chain and the block of cylinders, without allowing hermetic hit to oil canals.
2. Lay new laying by a label up and establish a head.
3. Tighten bolts in that order at first by hand, and then in 3 stages – at first with the moment of 27 N of m, then – 61 N of m and it is final – with the moment of 92 N of m of 2 forward bolts tighten with the moment of 19 N of m in 3 stages (5,4, 12 and 19 N of m).
4. Replace all removed laying and a sealant. A bolt of an asterisk of a cam-shaft tighten with the moment of 54 N of m. An asterisk establish. without breaking a tension of a chain and without allowing crankshaft rotation.

ENGINE 3,0 and 3,5 L

Prevention

MB 990767-01, MB 998715 adaptations will be necessary for removal and installation of an asterisk of a cam-shaft or equivalent. Use of other tools is not allowed.

Removal and installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Execute a decompression of fuel system.
2. Disconnect the battery from weight.
3. Merge cooling liquid and disconnect the top hose of a radiator.
4. Remove an air line, drive belts, the fan and pulleys.
5. Remove the compressor and the pump of the hydraulic booster, take aside, without disconnecting from highways.
6. On the right head of cylinders disconnect conducting and remove the generator and an arm. Remove a masloukazatel.
7. Remove covers of gear belts.
8. Establish the piston of the 1st cylinder in VMT of a step of compression, release a bolt of a natyazhitel and designate on a belt the rotation direction, remove a gear belt. Rotation of the crankshaft is not allowed.
9. Disconnect high-voltage wires.
10. At dismantle to the left head of cylinders remove the ignition distributor (see subsection 3.4.2).
11. Uncover heads of cylinders.
12. Remove both collectors (see subsection 3.4.15 and subsection 3.4.16).
13. Unscrew bolts and remove a head of cylinders. If necessary remove previously a cam-shaft asterisk, an arm of the generator and a back cover of a belt.

14. Installation is carried out upside-down. Lay new laying by a label up, and establish a head. Tighten bolts in that order at first by hand, and then in 3 stages with the moment of 90-10 N of m (till 1991) or 103–113 N of m (1992-98). A gear belt establish, being guided by the description provided above.
